South Property Update
FA Church Family,
I want to share an update with you regarding our South Property.
FA’s heart is to extend God’s Kingdom by impacting Calgary and the world with the life-transforming presence of Jesus. We believe south Calgary will experience exponential growth over the next decade and God is leading us to reach those communities for Christ.
To support reaching south Calgary, and in line with our Vision 100 (V100) objectives, we purchased 11.5 acres of land in the south at the end of 2019. FA Church leadership and members took this step of faith to expand God’s Kingdom through planning towards a south church presence, school, seniors housing, and a variety of options for community outreach.
Prior to our land purchase, Shepherd's Gate Church (Ogden) owned the neighbouring land and had invited FA Church into a church adoption discovery process. The church adoption process intended to revitalize the Ogden Shepherd’s Gate church to become an FA campus, and to jointly develop a south campus vision.
However, after an extensive period of partnership exploration with FA, Shepherd's Gate church has recently decided to pursue their own vision for their south Calgary property.
Though the church adoption discussions did not come together as we had envisioned, we rest in knowing that God works all things together for our good. We wish Shepherd's Gate all the best as they move ahead with their plans.
FA remains committed to its long-term vision of establishing a soul-winning presence in South Calgary. In the coming months, FA leadership will be prayerfully considering our next steps and seeking God’s direction related to the launch of our South Campus vision.
Let’s remember that vision is always first and foremost about people, not properties or plans. These all facilitate the expanded work the Holy Spirit is already working through us. We are a Spirit-empowered community, extending God’s Kingdom by helping people become passionate and influential followers of Christ. God knows the present, the future, and has good things in store as we continue to follow His leading and timing.
Thank you for your continued prayers and partnership. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Great days ahead!
